It seems like LG has started pushing out a beta build of Android 8.0 Oreo to Chinese users, at least according to a number of posts on Reddit. For those of you who are unaware, the LG G6 was announced in the first half of 2017, and it ships with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Now, the first user that reported that Android 8.0 Oreo beta build is rolling out, also said that the update is rolling out to LG G6 units with the following model numbers: LGM-G600L, LGM-G600S, LGM-G600K, LGM-G600LR, LGM-G600SR, LGM-G600KR, LGM-G600LP, LGM-G600SP, and LGM-G600KP.
The software version of this beta build is marked with a ‘V19A’ tag, though we still do not know how heavy the update is. You can check out the image in the gallery down below in order to see a part of the UI after the update, and as expected, this update not only brings the LG G6 to version Android 8.0 of Android, but it also brings a number of stock Android 8.0 Oreo features to the LG G6, despite the fact LG’s skin is installed on top of it. As part of this update, beta testers in China will get the Picture-in-Picture feature, along with ‘Notification Dots’. This update also brings a new settings screen to the LG G6, while adaptive icons have also been included in the update. Some changes to the notification share are also included here, and quite possibly a number of other features that have not been mentioned just yet.
All in all, this Android 8.0 Oreo beta build for the LG G6 definitely indicates that the final build is right around the corner. The Chinese LG G6 models are expected to receive a final build of Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming weeks, while other markets will follow soon after, quite probably. In fact, we’re still not sure if China will be the first to get the final build of Android 8.0 Oreo for the LG G6, it’s more likely that South Korean consumers will get their hands on it first, but we can only guess at the moment, we’ll have to wait and see what happens, as LG did not release any official info regarding all that.
