ASUS today announced that its Android 8.0 (Oreo) update has now started making its way out to the ASUS ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL). The confirmation on this came through the company’s ZenTalk forum and does it make it clear that this will be a gradual process. With the company stating it expects the rollout to be completed within one week. The post is dated today, so for those waiting the update should have arrived within a week from Friday December 29.
As for the update, this brings with it all of the usual trappings associated with Android Oreo and the ASUS announcement post has touched on many of the main design changes that owners of its device can expect. Such as the introduction of a ‘swipe up’ action to access all apps (the app drawer), a “more friendly” UI, autofill, smart text selection, Picture-in-Picture, Notification Dots, Android Instant Apps, and more. The update will arrive on devices as version number V15.0405.1711.76 and the announcement further explains those who do not receive a prompt for the update can check for the update via the usual way – by heading through to the device’s settings, then to About, and finally to System Update.
The ASUS ZenFone 4 is one of the latest phones to come through from ASUS and is part of the company’s current ZenFone lineup which also includes the likes of the ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Pro, and the ZenFone 4 Max. With this particular update announcement only relevant to the standard ZenFone 4 model. In either case, those who have purchased the phone recently will be glad to see Oreo arriving in a timely fashion. Although the arrival of the update now might not come as too much of a surprise to some as the company had previously announced (again through its ZenTalk forum) that the update would be made available before the end of the month – December. While ASUS has kept true to that commitment having now started the rolling out process, some won’t technically see the update land on their devices now until the first few days of January.
