Firefox Browser Now Available For Fire TV, Fire TV Stick

The Firefox browser is now available for the Amazon Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick. Mozilla, the organization that develops the Firefox browser, claims that Amazon reached out to the group in an effort to improve the web browsing experience of its video streaming devices. The organization further claimed that developers of the firm designed a browsing experience that would work best for a television set, instead of simply copying the user interface used for the desktop and mobile versions of the application. To ensure that the software can be used easily and intuitively by the majority of customers, Mark May, Mozilla’s senior vice president of Firefox, claimed that the design of the web browser has to successfully pass “the five-year-old with a remote test” before it is released to the general public

On its official website, Mozilla highlighted four key features of the Firefox browser for the Fire TV. One of the key functionalities is the ability to easily watch video content from YouTube and other streaming sites. In fact, users can access YouTube directly from the browser’s home screen. This feature is important for people who own f Amazon’s streaming device, especially after Google ended YouTube support for Amazon’s products earlier this month. Despite the software’s focus on video content, the developers still  made sure that the browser’s bookmark and web search tools can be easily accessed by the user. Navigating through the user interface can be done either through the Fire TV remote or the mobile application.

There are two ways to install the Firefox browser on the Fire TV. Users may search for the software either by typing the browser’s name in the search field available on the home screen of the device or by saying Firefox after long-pressing the microphone button on the remote. Once the detail page for the software appears, users may begin the installation process for the browser by clicking on the Get button. Another option is to go to the Amazon website and search for Firefox. After the search results appear, people should select the specific device where they intend to install the software and then press the Get button. It is important to note that the browser can only be installed on second-generation and newer Fire TV Stick and Fire TV. For those who own the first-generation Fire TV, they may instead use Amazon’s own Silk browser.
