Amazon India has started teasing a new, upcoming Samsung-branded smartphone, and based on the teaser page that the company set up, it seems like that handset will belong in Samsung’s ‘Galaxy On’ series of devices. That teaser page actually mentions that this launch will be exclusive to Amazon India, though it does not really reveal much more than that, as we o not even know when will the phone arrive at this point.
It is worth noting that this teaser page does not say that we’re looking at only one smartphone, so it is possible that Samsung will opt to launch more than one device. In any case, if you open up the teaser page (source link down below), you will notice that ‘Shoot.Shop.On.’ and ‘On for a Stunning New Look?’ captions are present there, and based on the use of the word ‘On’, it’s somewhat easy to presume that the next-gen ‘Galaxy On’ smartphone(s) is upon us. Now, as it’s usually the case, the upcoming ‘Galaxy On’ smartphone will probably not be brand new, as Samsung like to rebrand its existing devices into the Galaxy On series of devices. It is still not confirmed, but chances are we’re looking at the Galaxy J7 Plus here, a device that was announced back in September. Samsung did something similar with the Galaxy J7 Max earlier this year, so it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy J7 Plus will be re-announced in India under the ‘Galaxy On’ brand.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Plus is actually a mid-range smartphone, the device is fueled by the Helio P20 64-bit octa-core processor, which is MediaTek’s chip, and the phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Android 7.1.1 Nougat comes pre-installed on this smartphone, along with Samsung’s custom UI. The device features a 5.5-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. A fingerprint scanner lies below the phone’s display, and it is flanked by two capacitive keys. The device is made out of metal, and you will find 13 and 5-megapixel cameras on its back, along with a 16-megapixel shooter which is placed on the front side of the device. Samsung did mention a ‘stunning new look’ on Amazon India’s teaser page, which could suggest that the Galaxy J7 Plus is not the phone that the company will rebrand, as it sports a rather timely design, it does not look like Samsung’s phones which come with Infinity display. In any case, we’ll just have to wait and see what the company will announce, stay tuned.
