The OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition officially launched in India on Thursday, with the Chinese original equipment manufacturer revealing that the handset will go on sale tomorrow as an Amazon India exclusive, much like the regular OnePlus 5T. The smartphone that’s already been teased earlier this month will retail for Rs. 38,999, or approximately $607, with that price tag being comparable to the one attached to the device in Europe. The company’s existing experience zones will provide consumers with an opportunity for a hands-on session with the Android flagship whose stock was described as relatively limited, though no more details on the matter have yet been provided by the OEM.
With OnePlus also celebrating its fourth anniversary this week, the company is presently giving away 10,000 tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi screenings in India and will be announcing more information on its initiative later today. The handset itself is essentially a remade version of the premium OnePlus 5T with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash memory, featuring a Sandstone White back panel and a ceramic fingerprint reader of the same color, a red mineral alert slider, special Star Wars Android theme, and a Kylo Ren case. The Friday sale is already starting at midnight local time and it remains to be seen how long till the handset be in stock.
The OnePlus 5T was introduced earlier this fall as the Chinese company’s ultimate smartphone offering, boasting a 6.01-inch screen with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels. The shift to an 18:9 aspect ratio allowed the OEM to deliver a full-fledged phablet with a compact physical footprint that can still be operated in a single hand while simultaneously prompting it to remove the phone’s physical Home button and equip it with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Other than a different dual-camera setup that scraps the telephoto lens in favor of another wide-angle module in an effort to improve low-light performance and a refined display, the OnePlus 5T is still largely identical to the OnePlus 5, being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip and running the company’s OxygenOS which already received its Android 8.0 Oreo-based update earlier this month.
