Renders of the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) have been leaked recently, providing additional details about the appearance of the upcoming handset from the South Korean smartphone manufacturer. Based on the leaked images, it seems that the smartphone will retain the home button placed below the display. Located above the display are the earpiece and the front-facing camera. On the top of the device is the headphone jack while on the bottom, users may find the microUSB port for data transfer and charging. On the back, the LED flash is located directly below the single rear camera. The power button is located on the right side of the smartphone and it is interesting to note that the back side of the handset is curved.
Even though the device has yet to be formally announced, Samsung’s South Africa division has accidentally confirmed the existence of the Galaxy J2 Pro through its website last month. The device is expected to sport a 5-inch display, according to the leak, and it has a thickness of 8.6mm, width of 72.2mm, and length of 143.1mm. The handset will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset from Qualcomm, which is comprised of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 64-bit CPU clocked at up to 1.4GHz and the Adreno 505 GPU. Inside the device are 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash storage that could be expanded by a microSD card. The smartphone will likely be shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat pre-installed, although the manufacturer’s proprietary skin, Samsung Experience UI, will likely run on top of Google’s operating system.
The Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) has also been certified by both the Wi-Fi Alliance and the Federal Communications Commission, which are requirements for the commercial release of the handset to the United States. Two variants of the handset were certified by the FCC. One of them is the single-SIM variant with the model number SM-J250F while the other model supports two SIM cards, which can be identified by model number SM-J250F/DS. However, a variant carrying the model number SM-J250G has also been spotted in the GFXBench database. The certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance stated that the smartphone can only connect to Wi-Fi networks running on the 2.4GHz frequency and it supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. It is expected that the handset will be released by early 2018.
