Xiaomi’s CEO had confirmed the other day that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC, and a new rumor has just surfaced claiming that the company plans to introduced both the Xiaomi Mi 7 and Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus handsets next year. In addition to that, this rumor claims that the company will introduce these two smartphones side-by-side, so we won’t see separate launches or anything of the sort.
Now, some of you probably do remember that Xiaomi was expected to introduce the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus at some point this year, in addition to the Xiaomi Mi 6 which was announced earlier this year, but that did not happen. Some rumors claimed that the company could not get ahold of enough Snapdragon 835 chips in order to do so, while other rumors claim that the Mi 6 Plus was not in the company’s plans at all. In any case, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is rumored to arrive with a 5.65-inch display, while its ‘Plus’ sibling will, allegedly, sport a 6.01-inch panel. As expected, both devices will ship with an 18:9 display aspect ratio, which is completely normal considering that is today’s trend, and we’re looking at rather large displays here. The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch display, though that phone comes with plenty of bezel as well, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to cut down on bezels quite considerably, so it’s even possible that the regular Mi 7 will have a similar footprint to the Xiaomi Mi 6.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus will, much like the Xiaomi Mi 7, be fueled by the Snapdragon 845, and if the latest rumor is to be believed, those two phones will ship with 3,200mAh and 3,500mAh battery packs, while a 3.5mm headphone jack probably won’t be a part of either package. The two Xiaomi-branded flagships are expected to be made out of metal and glass, and wireless charging will be included, as the company joined WPC back in December. As far as cameras are concerned, rumors claim that the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus will ship with a dual cameras on the back, and we’re allegedly going to get Sony’s IMX380 and IMX350 sensors. The Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus are expected to cost (at least their base models) 2,699 Yuan ($408) and 2,999 Yuan ($453), respectively, and will launch in March next year if the provided info is accurate.
