Unlocked LG V30+ Now Shipping from B&H Photo

B&H Photo had put up the unlocked LG V30+ for pre-order earlier this month, and now the units are shipping out. Unfortunately, they will not ship out in time for the holidays, but if you purchase one today, it will ship out on December 26th and arrive on December 27th. So it could be a good belated Christmas gift.

The LG V30+ isn’t much different from the standard LG V30, the main difference here is the larger storage option, and the fact that it is in black. The LG V30+ sports 128GB of storage, instead of the 64GB inside the LG V30. The rest of the specs are the same, actually, with a 6-inch OLED 18:9 aspect ratio display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and of course that 3300mAh battery. It is running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, but it will be getting an update to Android 8.0 Oreo at some point, it just hasn’t rolled out just yet. The LG V30 has one of the best mobile cameras of the year available, and it’s likely the same case on the LG V30+, since it is the same camera. So if you’re looking for a big phone with great battery life and a great camera, this is definitely the route to take.

With the LG V30+, you do get a free second year on LG’s warranty, if you buy it before December 31st, 2018. Which is actually a good deal, since LG and most other manufacturers do only offer a year of warranty. So if anything happens outside of the first 12 months, you are usually screwed, but LG is offering an additional year for everyone picking up a V30+ which is good to see. Finally, this is a GSM/CDMA unlocked device, so you can use it on all four of the US carriers – AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. All you’ll need to do is pop in your SIM card and you’re all set. Now the LG V30+ is not a cheap smartphone here, coming in at a retail price of $929, but it is cheaper than the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X, and definitely worth the price.
