Video: Nokia 5 Passes A Durability Test Without A Problem

The Nokia 5 is the company’s entry-level smartphone which has been available for purchase since July, and JerryRigEverything managed to get ahold of the device, and conduct one of his durability tests. This durability test, as per usual, was published on YouTube, and the video has been embedded down below. The video itself has a duration of approximately 4 minutes, and if you’re interested to see how the Nokia 5 handles being scratches, if it bends when pressure is applied to it, etc., read on.

The device scratches at a level 6 pick, which is a standard for phones which are covered by Corning’s Gorilla Glass protection, though we don’t know what type of Gorilla Glass is applied on top of the phone’s display. The phone’s front-facing camera is covered by that same Gorilla Glass protection, and the home key / fingerprint scanner is also covered by glass, and will not be easily scratched, which are good news. The phone’s earpiece is glued in pretty tight, so chances are that it won’t fall out, but it’s not made out of metal. The phone’s main is covered by glass as well, and the same goes for the phone’s LED flash, which is a step up compared to the Nokia 3. The phone’s side-facing physical keys are made out of metal, as is the phone’s shell. The top of the phone is made out of plastic (as is the bottom), which is expected as the device’s antennas are included there.

The phone’s IPS display lasted for 10 seconds when exposed to flame, from a lighter, and the phone did not bend at all after pressure is applied both from the back and the front side of the phone. The phone continued working after it, and no visible changes occurred, which is, of course, a good thing. That’s pretty much it as far as this budget phone is concerned, if you’d like to check out the whole durability test, fire up the video down below. It seems like Nokia’s Android smartphones are doing really well in JerryRigEverything’s durability tests, the Nokia 3 had a number of compromises when it comes to its build, but all of them survived those tests.
