Action Launcher is bringing some new features to its own icon pack and launcher replacement applications according to a new blog post from the company’s official website. While updates to icon packs are relatively mundane – this particular update brings AdaptivePack’s total number of supported apps above 3.500 and the total icon count to above 1,100 – the rest of the updates are intended to bring more Android 8.1 (Oreo) features to users. The updates will bring the software up to version 4.0 and 33, respectively. Moreover, it gives users the chance to financially support the company in exchange for three exclusive themed wallpapers via the Action Launcher’s annual Supporter program. Contributions for Action Launcher’s Support program for 2018 can be made at $6 or $12 from within the app.
The biggest change Action Launcher is excited to announce, however, is its new Adaptive Zoom feature, which effectively provides an adaptive icon-inspired animation when users launch an application. Upon tapping an icon, it smoothly spreads the app’s primary color across the screen while moving the icon itself to the center. It’s effectively just a way to beautify the app’s loading process but looks nice and falls in line with what Google has been doing with its OS, so users aren’t left behind. Beyond that, an Android 8.1-derived “bounce animation” has been provided for the All Apps drawer and Android Accessibility API’s have been re-enabled with Google’s permission – smoothing out issues with opening the notifications panel and recent apps list. Among the other changes this update brings, Action Launcher says it has polished the appearance and animations associated with the home screen indicators in the app and added the ability for users to have empty home screens. Moreover, users can now tap and drag with one easy motion in order to completely delete an entire home screen and its contents.
The updates are available now but users should, of course, not be too concerned if they haven’t noticed it arriving yet on any of their personal devices. As with all updates, Android or otherwise, it could take some time before everybody sees this update on their end.
