Elephone had been teasing the arrival of the Elephone S9 and S9 Pro for quite some time now, by releasing a ton of info regarding both devices, and the company has just, surprisingly, decided to rebrand these two handsets. The Elephone S9 and S9 Pro will be released as the Elephone U and U Pro, as the company is trying to differentiate from Samsung’s Galaxy S-series of smartphones.
Having said that, Elephone has also announced that the Elephone U will be fueled by the MediaTek Helio P23 64-bit octa-core SoC, while the U Pro will ship with the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor. The company also informed us that the Elephone U and U Pro engineering samples are already ready, and Elephone also decided to release AnTuTu scores for the Helio P23-powered Elephone U. The company tested the phone five times on AnTuTu, and the device scored 80,563, 80,127, 79,813, 79,428 and 79,012 points during those tests. The company has promised to release AnTuTu scores for the Elephone U Pro in the coming days as well, so stay tuned. As already mentioned, the company had released quite a few info when it comes to these two smartphones, the Gray variant of the Elephone U surfaced earlier today, and that phone will resemble the Galaxy S8 quite a bit. The device will ship with a curved display, and it will sport really thin bezels all around, while its general shape also resembles the Galaxy S8.
The Elephone U will sport a flexible AMOLED display, which is also something Elephone confirmed a while back. The phone will ship with a dual camera setup on the back, while a fingerprint scanner will be placed on the back of the device as well. The Elephone U will sport an 18:9 display aspect ratio, while Android 8.0 Oreo will come pre-installed on the device. The Elephone U Pro will ship with wireless charging, Qi standard, though we’re still not sure whether that feature will make its way to the Elephone U or not.
