The Honor View 10 aka Honor V10, is Honor’s new flagship smartphone, and we’ve played around with the phone during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. You can find our hands-on images with the phone in the gallery down below, and before we proceed, it’s worth explaining the difference between the Honor V10 and the Honor View 10. These two phones are actually identical in both terms of specs and the design, but they’re aimed at difference markets. The Honor V10 was announced in China, while the Honor View 10 is an international variant of the Honor V10. It’s the same thing as with the Honor V9 (Chinese) and Honor 8 Pro (international), Honor’s flagships from last year.
That being said, the Honor V10 was announced back in November last year, while the Honor View 10 followed in December. The Honor View 10 is basically Honor’s variant of the Huawei Mate 10, Huawei’s flagship phablet. The Honor View 10 not only comes with the same SoC as the Huawei Mate 10, but it also shares some of its design cues, and internals as well. One big difference between the two phones is the fact that the Honor View 10 does not come with Leica’s lenses on its main cameras, while the Huawei Mate 10 does. The Honor View 10 comes with really thin bezels all around, while the device’s display sports slightly rounded corners. Despite the fact this phone’s bezels are as thin as they are, the company managed to fit a front-facing fingerprint scanner below the phone’s display, and that key also doubles as the home button, while Huawei’s software allows you to use that key only, even though you can set up soft keys for back and overview (multitasking).
The Honor View 10 is made out of metal, this smartphone’s back and front sides are slightly curved on the sides, even though the Honor View 10 does not sport a curved display, but a curved glass on top of its display, same as Huawei’s ‘Mate 10’ flagships. The power / lock, volume up and volume down buttons are included on the right-hand side of the Honor View 10, while you will find its SIM card tray on the left. We have managed to get our hands on the Midnight Black variant of this smartphone, though there are a number more color variants available, including Navy Blue, Beach Gold, Aurora Blue and Charm Red color variants. Those two cameras that are included on the back of this smartphone protrude a bit, though not by much, so the phone will not wobble on the table or anything of the sort. The device’s loudspeaker is placed at its bottom, as is a Type-C USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
This smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch fullHD+ LTPS IPS LCD display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable storage. The device is fueled by the Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core processor, and it offers two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM). A 3,750mAh non-removable battery is also included in this package, while 16 and 20-megapixel cameras are placed on the back of the device. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Honor View 10, while you will find Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 8.0 placed on top of it. A 13-megapixel camera sits on the front side of this smartphone, and the phone weighs 172 grams.
