Huawei P20 Android Flagship To Launch On February 26: Report

According to a new report from China, the upcoming Huawei P20 will be announced on February 26th. Huawei has a long history of presenting its devices at the annual MWC trade show in Barcelona, with last year’s Huawei P10 and P10 Plus being presented at the event, and the P9 line from 2016 also following the same release pattern. Now, with the event being less than two months away, a Chinese source is claiming the company will once again capitalize on it and announce its new Android flagship in the run-up to the official start of MWC 2018.

The upcoming Huawei P20 is set to introduce a number of new design changes and internal upgrades. Among these is expected to be a new 6-inch 18:9 display with minimal bezels wrapping around it, while the rear camera setup looks to be receiving a significant boost. For a couple of years now, Huawei has sworn by its dual-camera setup in flagship devices, but the Huawei P20 looks set to introduce a new triple-camera system in order to further boost its imaging capabilities. Regarding the internals, the company’s own Kirin 970 processor is likely to be powering the device, alongside 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while a large 4,000mAh battery is also said to be included. The Huawei P20 will not be the only device launching at MWC 2018, though. The company is expected to once again launch a Plus variant which will most likely sport a slightly larger display, though the overall spec sheet should remain largely the same. Interestingly, though, Huawei is rumored to be preparing a third device under the P20 Pro moniker which will supposedly sport a slightly different design.

Unlike the P20 and P20 Plus, the Pro variant will allegedly feature a display with an even wider aspect ratio and is set to sport a notch similar to that of the Essential Phone and somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone X. As well as this, due to the taller display, the front-placed fingerprint scanner will be moved to the rear in order to make more room for the new all-screen panel. Pricing of the P20 Plus and P20 Pro is currently unknown, but the same source claims that the regular Huawei P20 would be priced at approximately half of what the iPhone X is currently going for, suggesting the Chinese company is looking to aggressively compete with the world’s most successful flagship manufacturer.
