Huawei’s P20 may feature a Full HD+ display panel with a resolution of 2,244 by 1,080 pixels that still amounts to an 18:9 (2:1) aspect ratio when accounting for the rumored iPhone X-styled notch of the device, as suggested by a listing recently found in the database of benchmarking tool HTML5test which is believed to be describing the next Android flagship from the Chinese phone maker. The device bearing the model number EML-A100 was also identified as sporting a contemporary Internet browser whose performance is in line with the most premium industry standards, having posted high scores across the majority of categories tested by the benchmark.
According to previous reports, Huawei’s P20 lineup that’s meant to succeed the 2017 P10 series will include smartphones identified as the ML-AL00, EML-L09, EML-L29, and EML-TL00, with the former one presumably being one of the newly spotted models. While the original equipment manufacturer doesn’t shy away from QHD(+) panels, its flagship families usually include at least one FHD(+) device. Last year, it released the P10 and Mate 10 Pro, both of which sported non-QHD screens despite being equipped with ultra-premium internals and launching alongside equally powerful devices with higher-resolution panels. The Shenzhen-based tech giant is expected to announce the P20 and P20 Plus in the run-up to the 2018 edition of Mobile World Congress scheduled to start in late February. Both smartphones should be available in most parts of the world and will be prominently featured throughout Europe, with Huawei reportedly deciding on committing additional resources to promoting its offerings on the Old Continent after yet another unsuccessful attempt to enter the United States through a wireless carrier partnership with AT&T.
Huawei officially confirmed its inability to come to a retail agreement with any mobile service provider in the U.S. as part of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show that’s currently taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The development is a major setback for the OEM’s ambitions to become the world’s largest smartphone vendor and advance from its current position that has it trailing behind Apple and Samsung in terms of both sales and shipments on an international level. Besides a display notch reminiscent of Apple’s latest iOS flagship, at least one member of the P20 family is rumored to feature three rear-mounted cameras.
