The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 could launch in India in February, according to the latest info. The company’s Product PR, Clinton Jeff, stated on Twitter that ‘Next month is going to be lit’, and even though he did not specifically mention that a new device will launch, that seems to be happening. Having said that, some additional rumors are suggesting that the Redmi Note 5 may be announced in the country, even though some previously-released info suggested that the Redmi 5 Plus replaced the Redmi Note 5 completely.
Rumors are claiming that the Redmi Note 5 will actually be the Redmi 5 Plus, but that the company will opt to launch it under the ‘Redmi Note’ naming in India, for marketing purposes, mainly, as customers in India are quite familiar with Xiaomi’s ‘Redmi Note’ devices, and the Redmi Note 4 is one of the company’s most popular devices in India to date. Now, Mr. Jeff could also be indicating that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will arrive next month, which is not specifically related to India, but it is quite possible that Xiaomi may announce the Mi 7 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month, everything seems to be pointing in that direction. Xiaomi still did not confirm that it will happen, in any way, but it was confirmed that Xiaomi will participate at this year’s MWC in Barcelona, so it could happen. The Xiaomi Mi 6 was announced back in April last year, as Xiaomi did not exactly announce anything at MWC 2017, but back in 2016, the Mi 5 was announced at that tradeshow, so anything is possible at this point, as the Mi 7 has been leaking out like crazy in the last couple of weeks.
If Xiaomi opts to introduce the Redmi 5 Plus in India as the Redmi Note 5, the device will have the same specs as the Redmi 5 Plus, naturally. That means that it will be made out of metal, that it will sport rather thin bezels, and sport a 5.99-inch fullHD+ display. The phone will also pack in 3GB / 4GB of RAM and ship with 32GB / 64GB of expandable storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC will fuel the phone, while a 4,000mAh non-removable battery will be a part of the package as well. The Mi 7 is rumored to ship with the Snapdragon 845 SoC, with at least 6GB of RAM, and it will be made out of metal and glass. This handset will offer wireless charging, and it is expected to sport a dual camera setup on the back.
