Android-Powered Moto E5 Plus Leaks In Light Blue

Known industry insider Evan Blass today leaked a photo of what is believed to be Lenovo’s unannounced Moto E5 Plus from the brand’s low-end E series. Motorola has been rumored to be launching a pair of smartphones under the said series and this could be one of the two. The image seen above suggests the handset will feature a display using an 18:9 aspect ratio with somewhat thinner bezels along with an unconventional camera module that doesn’t appear to be of the dual-sensor variety even though it features two cutouts. With that, the earpiece can be seen flanked by a camera lens and an LED flash. No fingerprint scanner can clearly be seen on the phone, though one is rumored to be embedded into Motorola’s logo on the back.

The alleged Moto E5 Plus can be seen in a light blue color with a glossy finish on its back, and Motorola may launch the phone with more color options. Interestingly, the phone mentions the April 3 date on its screen, which could be its launch date if this ends up being one of its official renders. A photo of the rumored Moto E5 had leaked last month revealing a similar form factor as the Plus variant but with some major trade-offs. The phone had a display using the conventional 16:9 aspect ratio and a single rear camera. Specifications of either device haven’t leaked yet, but being budget offerings, they are expected to adopt entry-level chipsets from either Qualcomm or MediaTek, just like their predecessors did. Last year’s Moto E4 and E4 Plus came with 720p displays and that isn’t expected to change this year.

While earlier reports suggested Motorola will be announcing its G6 family of smartphones at the ongoing MWC 2018 in Barcelona, that hasn’t come to pass. Though Motorola had announced its G5 series at the same event last year, the company appears to be pushing back the release of its successor in 2018. Motorola’s G6 lineup is expected to include three phones – the G6 Play, G6, and the G6 Plus – all of which may have thinner bezels with 18:9 displays. The Motorola G6 Plus will get the best hardware of the three with the inclusion of the Snapdragon 630 processor and up to 6GB of RAM, according to some previously leaked information. Back in January, Motorola’s entire smartphone lineup for 2018 leaked in alleged photos revealing the Moto G6, E5, Z3, and the X5 series.
