Indian consumers seem to be really angry at Xiaomi, for a rather interesting reason, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro sold out in less than three minutes in the country, and that seems to be a reason enough for Indian consumers to lash out. Xiaomi hyped up this flash sale quite a bit, and in less than three minutes the company was left without a single Redmi Note 5 Pro unit to sell. After that, the company shared an image which you can check out above this article, claiming that it sold ‘3,00,000+’ units in the country, in less than three minutes. For those of you who are unaware, ‘3,00,000 (lakh)’ is not a typo, it actually translates to ‘300,000’, for those of you who do not live in India.
One user actually tweeted out that Xiaomi should ‘stop fooling people’, and that the company should maintain ‘ample stock’ before they start selling a product, while a number more reacted on Twitter as well. The aforementioned consumer, like many others, was probably unable to purchase the device in time, and is now lashing out on Twitter. Now, Xiaomi says that it sold all the Redmi Note 5 Pro units in less than 3 minutes, while reports said that Flipkart’s site crashed in a couple of seconds after the phone was made available for sale, so some people started thinking that the phone sold out much faster, or that Xiaomi did not really have that many units ready to sell. It is not impossible that the site crashed for some people, due to high traffic, though, so… who knows what happened, though it’s probably the latter. Indian users who did not get a chance to purchase the Redmi Note 5 Pro during its first sale, can get ready for a second flash sale which will take place on February 28.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was announced alongside the Redmi Note 5 earlier this month. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 636 64-bit octa-core processor, while it packs in 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. This handset comes with a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, and a 4,000mAh non-removable battery. 12 and 5-megapixel snapper are included on the back of the device, while a single 20-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side. The device is quite popular in India, it seems, and its price point is probably one of the reasons why. The 4GB RAM variant of the device is priced at Rs. 13,999 ($216), while the 6GB RAM model costs Rs. 16,999 ($262).
