A set of high-resolution renders depicting what’s believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus leaked online earlier this week, having been discovered by industry insider Roland Quandt. The images can be seen in the gallery below which must be opened in order to display them in their original resolution. The leak itself is yet another confirmation that Samsung is sticking with the overall aesthetic of the Galaxy S8 lineup, having opted to center the design of the Galaxy S9 Plus around its Infinity Display AMOLED panel boasting an elongated aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The display curves around the long edges of the device and is sandwiched between slim bezels, with the handset itself having a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 85-percent.
The renders show what are thought to be the Midnight Black and Coral Blue variants of the Galaxy S9 Plus, with recent reports suggesting the phablet will also be available in Lilac Purple and Titanium Gray. All four color options should be available from day one, though it remains to be seen whether Samsung ends up offering every one of them on a global level or if certain variants are to be exclusive to select countries. The newly shared renders also provide an unprecedentedly clear look at the main imaging system of the Galaxy S9 Plus which consists of two vertically arranged cameras centered approximately a quarter of the way down the smartphone’s rear plate. The fingerprint reader now rests below the dual-camera setup and is oriented horizontally, whereas a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash unit and a heart rate monitor can be found to the right of the two lenses.
The upcoming phablet still has a physical Bixby key sitting below its volume rocker and boasts corners that are more rounded than those of the Galaxy Note 8 but still not curved as aggressively as the ones on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The South Korean tech giant is scheduled to announce its next Android flagship duo on Sunday and should start retailing it in the second half of the next month, with its last rumored release date being March 16.
