The Huawei P20 and P20 Plus have just been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), though both images and specs are still missing. The two devices were listed under EML-AL00, CLT-AL00 and ATU-AL10 model numbers, and even though images and specs are still not included on TENAA, chances are they will be in the near future. These two smartphones will not be announced at MWC 2018, instead, Huawei plans to host a separate event on March 27 in Paris, where the company will introduce both of those flagships, and possibly even the Huawei P20 Lite, though it remains to be seen if that will happen.
TENAA’s listing confirms that the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will support both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G LTE networks, and that they will ship with two SIM card slots, as expected. There is a chance that a single SIM Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will become available as well, though that’s not as likely. Now, how do we know that these model numbers represent the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus, well, the Huawei P20’s codename is Emily, while Charlotte is Huawei P20 Plus’ codename. If you take a look at the model numbers we’ve mentioned in the first paragraph, it won’t be able to conclude that ‘EML’ stands for ‘Emily’, and ‘CLT’ for ‘Charlotte’. The Huawei P20 and P20 Plus have been leaking out for quite some time now, and some really nice 3D renders of these two phones did surface quite recently, while we also know what to expect in the spec department, well, to an extent.
The Huawei P20 and P20 Plus are actually expected to look the same, though the P20 Plus will be a larger one of the two handsets. Both devices are tipped to ship with a triple camera setup on the back, while both of them will include a display notch as well, at least if rumors are to be believed. The Huawei P20 and P20 Plus will be made out of metal and glass if leaked renders are to be believed, while both phones will sport rather thin bezels, and their displays will sport rounded corners. Huawei’s Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core flagship processor will fuel these two smartphones, and the two devices will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, while the company’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 8.0 skin will be included on top of it.
