Dozens of images depicting what are said to be the official protective cases for Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus leaked online over the weekend, having been shared by industry insider Roland Quandt of WinFuture. While the vast majority of the images seen in the gallery below indicate Samsung is primarily looking to relaunch all of its Galaxy S8 accessories such as the Clear View Standing Cover, Silicone Cover, and the Alcantara Cover, as well as a series of cases designed in accordance with the MIL-STD-810G 516.6 military durability standard, one new addition to the lineup of attachments meant to be sold alongside the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus is a Hyperknit Cover that appears to have been made of tightly knit wool.
The company’s next Android flagship duo is expected to be similar to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in terms of overall dimensions and Samsung hasn’t been aggressively experimenting with its official smartphone accessories for several years now, so the newly leaked lineup of protective cases is largely in line with its recent product practices. The newly uncovered cases also provide yet another hint at the imaging differences between the two devices as the ones meant to be attached to the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 have a rear cutout meant to account for a single-lens camera, whereas the accessories labeled as being designed for the 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 Plus feature an opening that appears to have been made with a vertical dual-camera setup in mind.
One accessory that’s set for a major revamp compared to its predecessor launched alongside the Galaxy S8 series is the Samsung Desktop Experience (DeX) Station whose second iteration has been entirely reimagined, according to recent leaks. Instead of delivering yet another dock in which its Android flagships are meant to sit, Samsung now decided on a pad-like design which should allow the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to be used as trackpads while operating in the DeX Mode, industry sources previously claimed. The pair of ultra-premium devices is scheduled to be officially announced on February 25 and is expected to begin retailing on a global level in mid-March.
