An image depicting what’s said to be the ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite appeared online earlier today, showing the supposed handset from a relatively tight angle, with its back facing the camera. The photograph seen above suggests the next ASUS-made mid-ranger will ship with dual stereo speakers positioned at its bottom, sandwiching a USB Type-C port. A 3.5mm audio jack apparently won’t be part of the package, less ASUS decided for a more unconventional placement of the headphone port, i.e. had it installed on the top of the handset. The ZenFone 5 Lite will seemingly feature a metal unibody design and a non-removable battery, according to the same leak.
While out of focus, the upper portion of the smartphone’s rear panel appears to accommodate a dual-camera setup entailing two vertically arranged sensors supported by a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash unit. A supposedly official render depicting what’s said to be the same device surfaced on the World Wide Web just yesterday, showing identical features. Beneath the main imaging setup of the ZenFone 5 Lite is a circular fingerprint scanner, with the bottom portion of the plate also featuring ASUS’s standard branding. The newly leaked device appears to be of the glossy black variety, whereas the press render from Friday suggested the company will also be retailing a white version of the device. The ZenFone 5 Lite should be the most affordable member of the upcoming Android smartphone family that the Taiwanese original equipment manufacturer is expected to announce late this month at the 2018 edition of the Mobile World Congress.
The ZenFone 5 Lite is expected to ship with an FHD+ screen taking advantage of an elongated 18:9 aspect ratio. While its bezels seemingly won’t be the thinnest in the industry, the overall package should still feature a relatively high screen-to-body ratio. The actual size of its screen remains unclear, with only some rumors hinting at a 6.0-inch panel, whereas others are claiming the device will feature a more compact display. A Qualcomm-made system-on-chip should also be part of a package, supported by at least 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash memory. If the ZenFone 5 Lite ends up debuting at MWC 2018, ASUS is likely to begin retailing the handset by April.
