A new Meizu-branded handset has just been certified by the 3C authority in China, also known as CCC (China Compulsory Certification). The device in question comes with a model number M851Q, and if reports are to be believed, this could be the upcoming Meizu 15, a smaller variant of the company’s upcoming flagship, the Meizu 15 Plus. This certification revealed that this smartphone will support 5V/2A and 10V/2A charging ratings, while it will ship with a 20W charger. The Meizu 15 Plus will almost certainly include a more powerful charger, so the reports are claiming that this could be the Meizu 15, which will sport a smaller battery, and a smaller form factor than the Meizu 15 Plus.
Both of those phones surfaced already, though the Meizu 15 popped up only once, while we’ve seen a number of leaks when it comes to the Meizu 15 Plus, though truth be said, most of those leaks are conflicting one with the other. The Meizu 15’s backside leaked a while back, and that leak suggested that the phone will sport a vertically-aligned dual-camera setup on the back, below which a ring flash will be located. Meizu’s branding will also be included on the back of the phone, while we did not see a front side of the device, but chances are that it will resemble the Meizu 15 Plus. If the latest hands-on leak of the Meizu 15 Plus is to be believed, the device will ship with extremely thin bezels, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a ‘Halo Button’ which was introduced with the Meizu M6S. That is, basically, a multifunctional on-screen button, which is also responsive to pressure, so you will need to physically press it in order to go home, tap it to go back, and so on, it’s here to replace the company’s physical mBack button.
The Meizu 15 Plus will be announced in the Spring, the company’s exec did confirm that last year, while he also shared the phone’s retail packaging. The Meizu 15 was not mentioned by Meizu, but it is possible that it will arrive at the same time as the Meizu 15 Plus, and it will probably be inferior to the company’s flagship in the spec department, though we’re only guessing at this point.
