Samsung’s new Fast Wireless Charger carrying the model number EP-N5100 has once again been exposed ahead of its official debut, this time around in a series of live photos showcasing the product’s retail box, as well as the device itself in two color options. Much like it was suggested by the previous leak, Samsung’s upcoming solution has a circular form factor with a fan exhaust on the back and seems to borrow some design cues from the original Samsung DeX Station, but unlike that, peripheral the Wireless Charger doesn’t seem to be foldable.
The product will apparently launch in black and white, and it’s likely that it will debut alongside the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 series, but will more than likely be compatible with some of Samsung’s previous smartphones featuring wireless charging capabilities. In any case, it’s interesting to note that there is a slight difference between the wireless charger seen in the previous leak compared to the new set of photos, in that the device spotted in the latest images doesn’t have the Samsung logo on the front. It does carry the brand on the back panel where it is surrounded by the fan exhaust, while the front pad meant to support smartphones carries only the text “Fast Charge.” Having said that, it’s unclear which one, or whether both of these variants are meant for the consumer market, but given that the latest images also depict the device’s retail package, there is a possibility that the previous leak may have showcased a pre-production unit.
Other specs of the gadget include an LED light indicator on the base which informs users of their charging status and other details, as well as a USB Type-C connector used for plugging the wireless charger into a wall socket. Pricing details remain unknown but it should be noted that the OEM’s previous wireless charger retails for $39.99 in the United States, so it’s likely that the upcoming model will fit in a similar price range. As for its availability, the device is expected to launch around the same time as the Samsung Galaxy S9 series which is scheduled for an official unveiling on February 25 right before MWC 2018 opens its doors to the public.
