The Sony Xperia XZ2 that made its debut earlier this week at Mobile World Congress will apparently have more RAM in some markets, and less in others. More specifically, based on product pages on Sony’s websites for various regions, it looks like the Xperia XZ2 will come with 6GB of RAM in the U.S., the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Meanwhile, the global versions of the smartphone, such as the model for the European market, will come with just 4GB of RAM. However, things are a bit confusing. Originally, the sources also showed the smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact with 6GB of RAM in some markets, yet they have now been updated to show the smartphone with 4GB of RAM for all regions. It remains unclear for now whether the Xperia XZ2 will retain the 6GB of RAM for all aforementioned markets, or whether the pages will also be updated to list a lower 4GB of RAM.

The Xperia XZ2 raised plenty of interest at the MWC 2018, as it finally sports an improved design, ditching the sizeable bezels of its predecessor in favor of a full-screen design and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The flagship also comes with high-end specs and features all around, aiming to deliver a powerful and immersive experience with entertainment front and center. Sony touts that its latest Xperia XZ2 features notable upgrades in terms of specs, design, camera, and audio technology. The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch display with a QHD+ resolution (2,160 x 1,440 pixels) and while it’s not an edge-to-edge display, the slim bezels are sure to be appreciated by a larger number of users.

The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and it comes with 64GB of native storage space, expandable up to 400GB with a microSD card. The Xperia XZ2 further comes with dual SIM support, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, a 3,180 mAh battery, wireless charging, and a USB Type-C port. Like other recent flagships, the Xperia XZ2 comes without a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is set to launch this spring and Sony said that it will offer exact release and pricing details at a later date. Sony Mobile’s official German website, however, listed the Xperia XZ2 with a €800 price tag and the Xperia XZ2 Compact at a €600 price point. It remains unclear for now just how much the Xperia XZ2 will cost in other markets, or how much will the price difference be between the 4GB and 6GB of RAM configurations.
