The Alcatel 1X and the Alcatel 3V are two of the smartphones announced by the company during MWC 2018 and both of which feature an 18:9 aspect ratio. Following that initial unveiling the company has today confirmed both the 1X and the 3V are coming to the US. Besides this general confirmation, there were very few details shared by the company other than stating both devices will be sold as GSM unlocked units and both “will be available in the coming months.” On the topic of price, no details were given for the Alcatel 3V although the company did state the Alcatel 1X will arrive to market priced under $100.
On that note, and in spite of being priced less than $100 the Alcatel 1X does come with a very specific feature that will not be found on higher-priced devices – Android Oreo (Go Edition). As this is the company’s first device to come loaded with the lightweight version of Android designed for low-powered devices. Therefore, in spite of what will be a perceived lower set of specs, this is a device optimized to make the best use of those specs. Making this an ideal option for those looking for a highly affordable, yet, reliable smartphone. It is also worth noting Alcatel confirmed the Alcatel 1X in the US will come equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
As for the Alcatel 3V, this is another phone that is designed to be budget in terms of its price. For example, although Alcatel has yet to confirm US pricing it has previously stated the 3V will arrive in Europe priced at €189.99. Therefore it should be expected the 3V will arrive in the US for around the same price. Especially considering the “under $100” figure touted for the 1X is exactly in line with the previously-confirmed €99.99 European cost. While this phone does not come with Android Go, it does come with its own unique features including a dual rear camera setup as well as a TCL-built 2K display. Likewise, the rest of the core specs are a step up compared to the 1X which should make the 3V a competitive device at its price point.
