Fans of the popular Doctor Who TV series will likely want to know that a new trailer has now been released as part of the 2018 Game Developers Conference for an upcoming PC and mobile game, Doctor Who Infinity. The game itself was announced late in 2017 with the confirmation of an expected Spring 2018 release. At present, that date has not been padded out in any more detail, though to satiate the fans of the series, the new trailer shown below provides an overview of the type and style of game to be expected.
The video trailer is specific to the game’s first episode – The Dalek Invasion of Time. As it has been revealed Doctor Who Infinity is going to comprise of five different episodes, with each episode due be released at a different point in the year. The video also confirms the first episode of the game will employ a comic book-style design with the artwork coming courtesy of Mike Collins and Kris Carter, and the story written by George Mann. All three names are ones that have been associated with the Doctor Who franchise in the past. The developers have further explained that each episode will be different in this respect, with each one employing the help of a different author and its own unique artwork. In addition, a number of the actors from the show have been recruited to reprise their original roles in the game. As for the Doctor, it seems this first episode focuses more on the Peter Capaldi regeneration, instead of the twelfth, and current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. Though it remains to be seen if this will continue to be the case as the player progresses through the episodes.
Doctor Who Infinity is a follow up to the previous Doctor Who: Legacy mobile game in the sense that both games are BBC Worldwide-licensed offerings that have been developed by Tiny Rebel Games. Although Doctor Who Infinity is more of a collaborative effort between Tiny Rebel Games and Seed Studio. Likewise, in spite of the close development similarities, the two games are not thought to be related from the player-perspective with both games expected to offer a wholly unique experience.
