Dolby Labs has entered a partnership with OPPO on audio coding technology, specifically revolving around its HE AAC tech otherwise known as High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding. The partnership will also involve Dolby Labs’ JPEG-HDR technologies, though the partnership announcement doesn’t mention any details about what that means in regards to OPPO and its future products. That said, the partnership does state that it revolves around the sharing of intellectual property rights, so OPPO’s devices are likely to include this technology in some way or another.
Without much detail it’s unclear how OPPO will use the technology that’s being shared with it, but future devices may incorporate the High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding from Dolby Labs which should help the way audio sounds on OPPO’s future phones that integrate this tech. HE AAC is ab audio codec that centers around lossy data compression of digital audio, aimed at enhancing the data compression of audio files. With this tech on OPPO’s phones it could help keep file sizes of audio small while minimizing loss of clarity of the audio.
Though no specifics have been given in regards to how things will be incorporated, the Director of OPPO’s IP Department, Adler Feng, points out that the partnership will help OPPO further its own innovation and that it will also help it during the process of creating new smartphones which will include these “exciting innovtaions” from Dolby Labs and offer users a “spectacular experience.” To that end, the partnership is quite obviously one which sets out to deliver even higher-quality products to the user. With OPPO already being ranked as the number four smartphone brand since 2016, this partnership should serve as a way for it to increase its popularity among consumers and potentially help it expand further and beyond the regions where it already has a foothold in the market. How much it helps is something that is also unclear, and will be until devices from OPPO with this tech are released.
