HTC will release an Android mid-ranger called the Desire 12 Plus alongside the previously rumored HTC Desire 12, according to our source with knowledge of the matter. Much like the HTC Desire 12 is code-named “Breeze,” the HTC Desire 12 Plus is being internally referred to as the “Breeze Plus,” the insider said, in addition to revealing a wide variety of specs expected to be found inside the Android smartphone. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 450, Qualcomm’s octa-core chip announced in mid-2017. HTC’s implementation is expected to be clocked at up to 1.8GHz and be backed by 3GB of RAM. The handset itself will feature a 5.99-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1,440 by 720 pixels amounting to an elongated aspect ratio of 18:9 and a pixel density of 268ppi.
The rear plate of the HTC Desire 12 Plus will sport a 13-megapixel camera, whereas its top bezel will accommodate an 8-megapixel unit. The former is expected to leverage a back-illuminated sensor that will allow for high-quality low-light performance, whereas the latter is understood to have support for electronic image stabilization. The smartphone will have 32GB of internal flash memory, with approximately 23.5GB being available to users, whereas a microSD card should also be part of the package. The HTC Desire 12 Plus will measure in at 158.24 x 76.54 x 8.39mm and weight 155.01g. The device is expected to support GSM bands 850, 900, 1800, and 1900, as well as LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, and 40.
The charging adapter bundled with the smartphone will be rated for a 5V/1.5A output, with those values being indicative of fast charging support. The silicon powering the device is compatible with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology, though that doesn’t guarantee the HTC Desire 12 Plus will utilize it. The upcoming device will feature a 2,965mAh battery and be able to fully recharge it in two hours and ten minutes, according to the same source. The battery is said to be rated for up to 26 hours of talk time, 74 hours of music playback, and 522 hours (21.75 days) of standby time. The existence of the HTC Desire 12 was originally reported by known industry insider Evan Blass in early February. The newly emerged specs of the HTC Desire 12 Plus suggest the handset will be largely identical to its counterpart but will boast a larger screen. The Taiwanese phone maker may announce its next Android mid-rangers this spring.
