Xiaomi has released its first Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S teaser, which has been published by the company’s official Weibo (Chinese social network) page. This teaser image reconfirms March 27 as a release date for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, and in addition to that, this teaser hints at great camera capabilities of the Mi MIX 2S, and also some AI features it seems. In its post, Xiaomi actually asks consumers to figure out whether the effects in the provided teaser image were made using one of the camera’s features or AI, which will be a focus of this smartphone as well.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S has been leaking for weeks now, and even the phone’s firmware files surfaced recently. According to the info that leaked, the phone’s codename is ‘polaris’, and it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC, which is something the company’s exec already confirmed earlier this year. The device will also include a 3,400mAh non-removable battery, leaked info says. Android 8.0 Oreo will come pre-installed on the device, while the company’s MIUI 9 skin will be included on top of it. The phone will feature a fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display as well, though we still do not know how large will that display be, but rumors are hinting that it will be the same size as the one on the Mi MIX 2, which means we’re looking at a 5.99-inch panel here. That is more or less all the info that the leaked firmware shared, though rumors have shared some additional info.
If rumors are to be believed, the Mi MIX 2S will ship in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, just like the Mi MIX 2, and it will be announced in metal + glass and ceramic unibody editions, just like its predecessor. An in-display fingerprint scanner is also rumored, though chances are that the phone will include a rear-facing fingerprint scanner instead. The alleged Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S did leak several times now, though those leaks are quite different one compared to the other, so it’s hard to know what exactly to expect. One thing is for sure, though, the Mi MIX 2S will sport thinner bezels than its predecessor.
