Two supposedly official press renders depicting the Huawei P20 Lite appeared online earlier today, having been obtained by GSMArena. The images that can be seen above correspond with previous leaks of the handset, suggesting the Chinese phone maker’s next mid-range offering will feature an 18:9 screen with minimal bezels and a display notch. The cutout seen at the top of the alleged Huawei P20 Lite appears to be housing a front-facing camera and loudspeaker, as well as a proximity sensor. The bottom bezel of the device is about twice as thick as the top one and accommodates Huawei’s conventional branding, though it lacks a physical Home button which could double as a fingerprint scanner, with that sensor presumably being mounted at the back of the handset, which several older leaks already indicated.
The Huawei P20 Lite is expected to feature a dual-camera setup, albeit one that won’t use the traditional monochrome-RGB combo seen on the company’s more premium offerings released in previous years. Instead, the Android mid-ranger is likely to have a traditional main camera supported by a low-resolution secondary sensor meant to help it perform depth mapping that’s usually utilized for dedicated portrait modes. The system is expected to be supported by a traditional LED flash, whereas the handset itself should be powered by the Kirin 659, a mid-tier chip from Huawei’s HiSilicon. 4GB of RAM is also said to be part of the package, together with 64GB of expandable storage space, a 3,000mAh battery, and a 5.84-inch FHD+ display.
While Huawei is understood to be targeting the P20 Lite at Europe, the company is also expected to launch the same device in its home country as the Nova 3e, according to recent reports. The handset may eventually make its way to the United States via Amazon, albeit rebranded as a product of Huawei‘s subsidiary Honor. The P20 Lite, P20, and the P20 Pro are all scheduled to be officially announced on March 27 at a dedicated unveiling in Paris, France. Huawei is expected to begin retailing all three devices by late April or early May.
