Lava had introduced its Go Edition smartphone last month, and it’s now launching it in India. The device in question is called the Lava Z50, and it will be available for purchase for only Rs. 4,400 $67.63 in the country really soon, Rs. 2,400 ($37) if you count in the Rs. 2,000 cash back. The Lava Z50 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition software, which essentially means that a special version of Android comes pre-installed here, a version of smartphones with 1GB or less RAM. Google launched Android Go Edition last year, and several smartphones already adopted it. This means that Android OS, in general, is lighter than the regular build, by about 50-percent, and in addition to that, Google ships this software with a number of ‘Go’ applications that are also quite light, and adapted for entry-level smartphones. Those apps include Google Maps Go, Files Go, and so on.
As you can see, the Lava Z50 has rather thick bezels, but the phone is not that big because its display measures only 4.5-inches. Speaking of which, this is a FWVGA display, which means we’re looking at 854 x 480 resolution here. A 2.5D curved glass is applied on top of the phone’s display, while the device features three capacitive keys below its display. A single camera is included on the back of the Lava Z50, while this handset comes with a rear-facing loudspeaker. All the physical keys are placed on the right-hand side of the Lava Z50, while a 2,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The device is fueled by the MediaTek MT6737M 64-bit quad-core SoC which is clocked at 1.1GHz, while the phone comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card).
A 5-megapixel shooter sits on the back of the Lava Z50, while you will find one such camera on the phone’s front side as well, though we’re not sure if these are the same sensors. An LED flash sensor is available on both the phone’s front and back sides, while this phone does have support for 4G with VoLTE. The Lava Z50 comes in Black and Gold color variants, and it will be available from Flipkart, Amazon India and Snapdeal in the country, soon. Now, as far as its offline availability goes, you will also be able to purchase it in over 100,000 retail stores across India.
