Meizu 16-Series Flagship To Launch In August: Report

The Meizu 15-series devices are expected to arrive in April, and according to a new report, the Meizu 16-series may arrive as soon as August. According to a report from China, Meizu’s founder, Huang Zhang, said that the Meizu 15-series devices will be great phones, but that the Meizu 16-series “is the future”. In addition to that, Mr. Zhang reportedly revealed that the Meizu 16 devices will be announced “around August”, which means that they may launch in August, or September, perhaps.

Now, this statement has been translated from Chinese, but it seems like Mr. Zhang is hinting that the Meizu 16 will be a noticeable step-up from the Meizu 15, even though he’s also trying to hype up the Meizu 15-series devices. This report also says that Mr. Zhang got personally involved when it comes to creating the Meizu 16-series devices. We have seen quite a few leaks and rumors regarding the Meizu 15, 15 Plus and 15 Lite, but we’re still not sure what exactly to expect, as a ton of conflicting info surfaced over the last couple of months. The Meizu 15 Plus is expected to be the most powerful handset Meizu will announce next month, while the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Lite will be more affordable. It is worth noting that these three devices are rumored to arrive, but we’re still not sure that all three will be announced next month, nor that Meizu plans to introduce all of them. Having said that, it is worth noting that the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus are expected to sport really thin bezels and Meizu’s new ‘Halo Button’, while we really don’t have all that much info about the Meizu 15 Lite, other than the fact it was casually mentioned in a rumor.

The Meizu 15 Plus is expected to sport a 6-inch display, and the device is rumored to arrive with 6GB of RAM, though more than one RAM option is a possibility. Meizu is cooperating with all three major SoC manufacturers, so we still do not know what SoC will be included in the Meizu 15 Plus, but you can expect the company to utilize a flagship SoC, so we’ll get the Exynos 9810, Snapdragon 845 or the Helio X30. The Meizu M15 Plus will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, most probably, and the device will include Flyme 7 out of the box, if rumors are to be believed.
