Leaks and rumors pertaining to the Meizu E3 have been piling up for the past couple of months, but more recently AnTuTu seems to have reconfirmed one hardware aspect of the device – its choice of silicon. According to a recent post by AnTuTu on Chinese social network Weibo, the Meizu E3 has been tested and identified as being powered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset from Qualcomm. This chipset was manufactured using the 14nm LPP node and features a total of eight Kryo 260 CPU cores operating in a big.LITTLE 4+4 core configuration, paired with the Adreno 509 graphics chip.
Furthermore, according to AnTuTu, the Snapdragon 636 SoC employed by the Meizu E3 will be coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board memory, though it’s worth reminding that according to an earlier TENAA listing, the device should also launch with 32GB and 64GB of storage expandable via a microSD card. Other details revealed by the benchmarking tool include a display resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels, and although the panel’s dimensions are unmentioned, the aforementioned TENAA documents have already confirmed a 5.99-inch diagonal. The main dual-camera should feature a 20 and 12-megapixel shooter, while the front-facing unit is expected to clock in at a resolution of 8 megapixels. Finally, the Meizu E3 tested with AnTuTu runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat which will likely be covered by Meizu’s proprietary Flyme OS 6.1.
The upcoming handset will be an 18:9 device featuring rounded display corners and a unibody metal shell. Judging by the leaks so far, the device should launch in a variety of color options including black, white, gold, and blue with red accents. As for the launch itself, the device is expected to be officially introduced by the Chinese OEM tomorrow, March 21, with launch prices ranging from 1,499 yuan ($237) for the variant equipped with less RAM, to 1,999 yuan ($316) for the model with 6GB of RAM. These prices have yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer but even if they may not be exact, it’s likely that the smartphone will fit in this price range either way given the specifications and Meizu’s established product practices.
