Xiaomi has announced that the MIUI 9.5 update will arrive to 30 of its smartphones. Now, we’re talking about a global build of MIUI here, so those of you who have global variants of the phones we’ll mention will get the update for sure. Having said that, the rollout already began for the Xiaomi Redmi 4 (MediaTek variant), Redmi 3S, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm variant), Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm variant), Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 5 Plus, Mi Max, and the Mi Max Prime. If you own any of these smartphones, you can now update it OTA (Over-the-Air), though do keep in mind that the update may not be available straight away, as software is rolling out gradually.
That being said, Xiaomi also listed phones which will get this update in early April and mid-April. You can expect MIUI 9.5 to hit the Redmi Note 5A Prime / Redmi Y1, Redmi Note 5A / Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5 / Pro, Redmi 5, Mi Max 2, Mi 5 / Pro, Redmi 4X, Mi 6 and the Mi MIX 2 in early April. The following devices will start receiving the update in mid-April: the Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi MIX, Mi Note 3, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 3, Redmi 4, Mi 3, and the Mi 4. Xiaomi did note that release times may change if some unforeseen circumstances occur, some unexpected bugs, or something of the sort, so keep that in mind. Now, as far as the changelog is concerned, MIUI 9.5 does bring quite a few options to the table. Most notable changes are related to the notification shade, as Xiaomi has finally upped its game in the Quick Reply and Expanding Notification shade areas.
The all-new notification shade is coming to Android Nougat-based Xiaomi devices which will receive MIUI 9.5. Those features were announced a while back, but did not really make their way to Xiaomi’s Nougat-based devices just yet, though that changes with MIUI 9.5. You won’t need to swipe with two fingers on a notification card in order to see the content, as this new implementation is much more similar to Google’s stock option. It also looks considerably better in terms of the design, as the Quick Reply icon was too big on previous builds, and it did not fit in with the design of MIUI 9. New Quick Search options are also coming with this update, new sound recording options for screen recorder, and much more.
