OUKITEL has introduced a new smartphone at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the OUKITEL WP5000. This new handset is made mainly out of metal, though some other materials are thrown into the mix as well, like military tri-proof plastic, for example, to make the device quite sturdy. The OUKITEL WP5000 sports a rather interesting shape, which is definitely unique. OUKITEL’s logo is placed below the phone’s display, and this handset actually sports rather thick bezels, which is not all that surprising considering this is a rugged smartphone we’re looking at here.
The OUKITEL WP5000 is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while the phone features a 5.7-inch display, which is shockproof. This display features an 18:9 display aspect ratio, while the phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable native storage. This phone is fueled by MediaTek’s Helio P25 64-bit octa-core processor, while it includes a 5,000mAh non-removable battery on the inside, which should be more than enough to get you through the day. There are two cameras on the back of the phone, one is 16-megapixels, while we still don’t have any info regarding the second one. An 8-megapixel shooter is placed on the front side of the OUKITEL WP5000, while the phone also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. As you can see, OUKITEL has included some rubber on the back of this phone as well, which should help with the grip quite a bit. A dual-LED, dual-tone flash is placed on the back of the device as well, while the company used quite a few screws while putting this phone together.
OUKITEL says that the OUKITEL WP5000 is aimed at construction workers, adventurers, couriers, swimming fans, and outdoorsy people in general. OUKITEL also promised that it will release more info regarding the phone later this week, including its price point, and more info regarding its specs and features, so stay tuned for that. Before that happens, however, feel free to check out the video that has been embedded down below, that is OUKITEL’s first WP5000 ad, which will let you take a closer look at the device, while we have also included several images to the gallery down below.
