Samsung Galaxy S9 Flagship Lineup Arrives On Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK is now officially retailing the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, two of Samsung’s latest Android flagships which were available for pre-orders over the last two weeks. The 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 can be purchased for £29 down and £59 per month on the Red Extra 16GB plan which offers 16GB of monthly data for the regular price of 4GB. The 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 Plus costs £99 down and £63 per month on the same two-year plan. While Vodafone is promoting the Red Extra contracts as its best offerings, Samsung’s new phablets are also available on the slightly more expensive Red Entertainment plan which is bundled with unlimited texts and calls, 32GB of data for the price of 8GB, and a choice between Spotify Premium Sky Sports Mobile TV, and NOW TV Entertainment Pass. The handsets have the same upfront fees on this plan but will set you back £65 or £69 per month, depending on which model you opt for.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus already became available for purchase in all parts of the world, including the United States where consumers can buy them since midnight. While several consecutive generations of Samsung’s flagships came with some extremely aggressive pre-order bonuses, most of the company’s retail partners weren’t offering any notable incentives this year, and neither was Samsung itself. The only universal benefit people who placed advanced orders on the new devices were eligible for was receiving the most powerful Samsung-made smartphones to date about a week in advance. One notable exception is Sprint that opted for a relatively unique marketing stunt and is selling the Galaxy S9 lineup along with actual stars as of today.

The new Android phablets offer a refinement of the Galaxy S8 formula in terms of aesthetics but ship with significantly improved hardware, with the most notable addition being the new chips from Qualcomm and Samsung. The models sold by Vodafone UK and other European carriers and retailers are powered by the Exynos 9810 silicon from the South Korean tech giant and are available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. It’s presently unclear whether the Titanium Gray variants will eventually make their way to the Old Continent as well.
