AT&T recently announced it was introducing a number of location-specific deals as well as lowering the cost of its Unlimited Plus Enhanced plan. However, there are some additional changes hidden away here that potential customers will likely want to be aware of, and especially when it comes to those considering opting for the company’s other unlimited plan, Unlimited Choice Enhanced.
As per the original announcement, the Unlimited Plus Enhanced plan has seen a $10 price decrease, dropping down from its previous $90 per month to $80 per month – for one line. That original announcement also noted anyone signing up to Unlimited Choice Enhanced will be able to get four lines for $160. Though as pointed out by Ars Technica, this plan had previously only cost $155. Likewise, the Unlimited Plus Enhanced plan – which is understood to have previously cost $185 per month – now costs $192 per month. In spite of the single line option having dropped in price. Furthermore, the more affordable Unlimited Choice Enhanced plan has also seen a price increase on the one-line basis, having now gone up from $60 to $65 per month. It is also worth keeping in mind, these new prices are also based on additional caveats, such as the user signing up for AutoPay and paperless billing.
Although both plans do offer unlimited (in terms of no additional costs involved) data, one of the fundamental differences between the two plans is Unlimited Choice Enhanced was previously capped at a 3Mbps speed for internet and 1.5Mbps for video. While the video streaming speed remains in place, it seems the 3Mbps is no longer applicable. This could be either beneficial or limiting depending on the situation as while it seems customers on the new version of the plan will be able to take advantage of higher speeds, there could also be times when their speed drops below the 3Mbps level – which was static before. It is also worth noting these changes only apply to new customers with AT&T reportedly confirming to Ars Technica existing Unlimited Choice Enhanced customers will remain limited to 3Mbps and their price at $60 per month.
