Xiaomi is expanding its Mi TV 4C series with a new TV model set to complement the existing 43-inch and 55-inch variants which were originally launched in late 2017. Not to be confused with the Xiaomi Mi TV Box 4C, the latest product is a full-fledged TV set featuring a 50-inch display with a 4K resolution and HDR capabilities, as well as integrated voice controls powered by AI. The new TV model is now available for pre-orders in China until April 2 and prospective buyers looking to acquire the unit at launch should be able to do so a day later.
The latest 50-inch Xiaomi Mi TV 4C has a modern design with very thin bezels and a Piano Black finish, all while boasting a variety of smart features that leverage a 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at up to 1.5GHz, coupled with the Mali-450 graphics chip operating at a frequency of up to 750MHz. This includes a smart UI designed by Xiaomi to sit on top of the Android platform, voice recognition capabilities provided by the TV’s Bluetooth remote, and AI features which allow the TV to act as a digital hub and give users the ability to control other connected IoT devices in their home, including air conditioning equipment and Xiaomi’s own vacuum cleaners. The aforementioned CPU is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board memory, and in terms of ports, the TV offers an AV input, 3 HDMI ports, 2 full-sized USB ports, as well as an Ethernet connector, all of which reside on the back panel. Meanwhile, the 50-inch HDR-enabled display accommodates 3840 by 2160 pixels, has a refresh rate of 50Hz with a dynamic response of 9.5 milliseconds, and provides a 178-degree viewing angle. On the audio front, the new TV model incorporates a couple of stereo speakers which take advantage of DTS-HD and Dolby Audio.
Xiaomi’s latest entry in the Mi TV 4C series will launch in China for the price of 2,199 yuan ($350) which is unsurprising considering that the smaller 43-inch variant costs 1,849 yuan ($295) while the larger 55-inch model has a price tag of 2,649 yuan ($422). Availability in other regions beyond China is still an unknown but the product is likely to soon be carried by international resellers such as GearBest.
