OnePlus has more or less confirmed that an Avengers-themed special edition OnePlus 6 handset is in the cards, as the Avengers: Infinity War movie tie-in. OnePlus India shared a teaser which suggests that the special edition of the device is on the way, as OnePlus, Marvel and Avengers brands are included in the provided image, along with a “Destiny still arrives” tagline. This, on its own, more or less confirms that the device is coming, while OnePlus also provided Android Central with a statement in which we see further indications that the special edition device is coming, even though OnePlus did not flat out confirm it.
Now, this handset will probably be exclusive to India, as was the case with the Star Wars Edition of the OnePlus 5T. In both of these cases, OnePlus will collaborate with Disney, as Disney is the owner of both Star Wars and Marvel brands. A Star Wars Edition of the OnePlus 5T managed to get a lot of attention from both the media and consumers, so it’s not exactly surprising that the two companies decided to collaborate once again. This is actually not the first indication that the Avengers-themed OnePlus 6 is coming, as the video teaser for the phone surfaced recently as well, while the company already shared a poster of the upcoming Avengers movie in China. Having said that, the OnePlus 6 is not yet official, so those of you who live in India and are interested in this Avengers-themed phone will probably have to wait a while, as that special edition handset will not arrive before the regular OnePlus 6 handset drops. Speaking of which, the device is expected to arrive either by the end of this month, or in (early) May, the company still did not confirm its release date.
The OnePlus 6 will sport a display notch, and its most powerful variant will ship with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. The Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel the phone, while the device will also feature some sort of IP rating for water resistance. All of this was confirmed by the company recently, along with a fact that the phone will sport a larger display than the OnePlus 5T, but its footprint will not change much. Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the OnePlus 6, while the company’s OxygenOS skin will be included on top of it. Navigation Gestures will be a part of the offering as well, and if Evan Blass’ leak is to be believed, the OnePlus 6 will sport a wood-like back cover.
