Denon Debuts HEOS HomeCinema HS2 Soundbar With Amazon Alexa Built-In

Denon has just debuted its latest soundbar, and it’s a special one. This is the HEOS HomeCinema HS2 soundbar, and it comes with Amazon Alexa built-in. Allowing you to have Alexa built into your entertainment setup, which always an awesome experience. Outside of Alexa support, this does also support Apple’s Airplay, Bluetooth and Hi-Res Audio. Unfortunately, there’s no Google Cast or Google Assistant support available here.

The HEOS HomeCinema HS2 Soundbar is capable of streaming 4K and it also comes with a wireless subwoofer, so you can get some great sounding audio in your home. It is able to stream Hi-Res Audio in FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and DSD files, so you’ll get some great sounding audio, and Hi-Res Audio here. Additionally, you can plug your TV in via the HDMI ports, or use the ARC port, and there is also optical and coaxial inputs, as well as an aux-in port and a USB port for external storage devices – this way you can store your music library on a USB hard drive, and plug it in directly to the soundbar and play it through your entertainment setup.

Given the fact that this is part of Denon’s HEOS setup of speakers, you will be able to set it up with other HEOS speakers here and have a multi-room setup, similar to what’s possible with Sonos speakers. Which if you already have HEOS speakers in your home, it’s definitely worth doing. But otherwise, Denon does 20mm dome tweeters inside that will provide some great high frequency sound, and five larger drivers for the mids and highs. Though Denon isn’t being too specific with the specs on what’s inside the HEOS HomeCinema HS2 soundbar here, but it will offer some great sounding audio. And with the wireless subwoofer, you can put it in a separate area of the room and fill the room with sound. The Denon HEOS HomeCinema HS2 is going to be hitting retailers in the coming weeks, and will be priced around $700. That puts it in line with Sonos’ own PLAYBASE and PLAYBAR soundbars.
