An image said to be the first camera sample from the LG G7 ThinQ appeared online earlier this month, having been shared by known industry insider Roland Quandt. The photograph that can be seen above went through web compression and hence likely features many more artifacts and general inconsistencies than what LG’s next Android flagship will be capable of delivering, with the source also sharing its EXIF data that reveals some new and confirms some old details about the imaging capabilities of the upcoming handset. The LG G7 ThinQ is hence presumed to be able to deliver 16.3-megapixel shots with a resolution of 4,656 by 3,492 pixels amounting to an aspect ratio of 4:3. The original file is said to have been 5.3MB in size and originated from a device bearing the model number LM-G710 that’s likely the international variant of the LG G7 ThinQ.
The f/1.6 lens of the V30 and V30S ThinQ is seemingly making a return with the G7 ThinQ given how that’s the aperture listed in the EXIF data of the newly unveiled image. The shot appears to have been taken in automatic mode, with its other parameters including ISO 50, 4.03mm focal length, and a shutter speed of 1/379. The overcast circumstances in which the photograph was taken are generally a major challenge for mobile cameras, though the LG G7 ThinQ appears to have managed to hold its own with its dynamic range support, with only a smaller portion of the image being underexposed, though a lot of detail has still been preserved in the shadows.
The LG G7 ThinQ is expected to ship with a 16-megapixel dual-camera setup powered by numerous artificial intelligence technologies and generally be geared toward content creators. The handset will have a dedicated, Bixby-like physical button meant to launch the Google Assistant and also ship with a display notch, whereas its screen-to-body ratio is expected to be in the ballpark of 85-percent. LG is scheduled to officially announce the G7 ThinQ on May 2, the company confirmed earlier this month.
