Fryxgames' Terraforming Mars Board Game Is Coming To Android

Fryxgames’ strategy board game Terraforming Mars is going to be getting a digital variation on several platforms, including Android’s Google Play Store, according to a new announcement from Asmodee Digital. The announcement was made on April 4 and the game will be developed by LUCKYHAMMERS but it won’t be releasing as an Early Access title until May. Of course, that will be on Valve’s Steam PC platform and there’s no word as to whether or not Android will be getting a beta. In the meantime, Terraforming Mars in its board game format is a highly lauded game built around strategy and transforming Mars so that it’s habitable for humans. The digital variation is said to have been created in close cooperation with the creators of the original, so it will be sticking very close to that in terms of gameplay and backstory.

Since this is a board game, it is a multiplayer title and play can take place either locally or online. Gameplay is turn-based, as nearly all great board games are. However, players will also be able to play two separate single-player modes either by themselves or against computer opponents. Each player takes on the role of a corporation assigned to make Mars livable. They’ll need to create oceans, plant forests, import resources and materials from Earth, and duke it out with the planet itself to accomplish that. Of course, they’ll also need to compete against other corporations, fighting dirty wherever such tactics are needed. That will mean sabotaging the competition’s resources, progress, and systems to get the upper hand at any cost.

Having said all of that, there are still no details with regard to how much this title is going to cost or whether there will be any in-app purchases to be had. The latter doesn’t seem likely but since it is launching on other platforms, it’s also unlikely to be free-to-play when it hits Android. There also aren’t many details about how exactly it will look or play on mobile as compared to other platforms. However, there is at least a very short and mysterious teaser trailer. If that’s anything to go by, Terraforming Mars could shape up to be a must-have multiplayer title for any fan of gaming via Android.
