The ‘Science and Knowledge’ YouTube channel has just released a video showing off its newest concept smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy X 2018. This phone actually resembles the Galaxy S9 Plus quite a bit, though its design is slightly tweaked, while it also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Interestingly enough, this phone’s whole display actually acts as a fingerprint scanner, according to the designer, at least that’s what he imagined it.
It is worth noting that this phone was designed by a third-party designer, namely Adrien Etalx, and it is not a leak of the company’s upcoming device or anything of the sort. This phone does sport a dual camera setup on the back, and in addition to its in-display fingerprint scanner, it also comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, which is quite interesting. What’s even more interesting, is the fact that a phone with two fingerprint scanners already exists, the PORSCHE DESIGN Huawei Mate RS. In any case, this concept phone is made out of metal and glass, and it sports really thin bezels (considerably thinner than the Galaxy S9 (Plus), in addition to a curved display. A Bixby button does not seem to be included on this concept phone, its power / lock key sits on the right, while the volume up and volume down buttons are located on the left-hand side of the device.
Now, the designer also envisioned some specs for this concept phone, and it comes with a 6-inch display, which sports a 19:9 display aspect ratio. Samsung usually sticks to an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio, and the company did not introduce a single phone with a 19:9 display aspect ratio, so this choice is a bit odd. That is more or less it, no more info was given, which is not surprising considering this is just a concept device, and it will never become a reality. Samsung seems to be working on some interesting devices, though, as the company’s foldable device has been in the works for a long time now, and the Galaxy Note 9 is also expected to arrive later this year.
