Google I/O is a little under two weeks away, and Google has finally updated the official Google I/O app. Bringing the latest edition of Material Design to the app, but also bringing the schedule for Google I/O 2018 and other elements for this year’s developer’s conference.
The updated app is pretty easy to navigate now. With there being three tabs at the bottom. One for information, one for the schedule and one for location – showing you where everything is at Google I/O, including different sessions, bathrooms, etc. The tabs at the top will change based on which tab you tap on at the bottom. So it’s a bit more flexible, and does make it easier to navigate, which is always a good thing. This does have the latest Material Design guidelines included, and it looks really good actually. Under the information tab, you’ll get info for the event, which includes the WiFi network and password, event types, meals, after hours events and more. Under the travel tab you’ll find information on how to get to Google I/O, including the different shuttles that the company is providing, public transportation, biking and such.
The schedule tab is likely going to be the most important part of this app. As it shows you all of the different sessions available at Google I/O this year. Which starts with the Keynote on Tuesday, May 8th at 10AM PST. This is where Google will announce a number of things that they are working on – many of which won’t be available until later in the year. Afterwards, there will be sessions going on all day long Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Google I/O app will allow you to choose the sessions you want to attend and add it to your schedule, which is really good and useful. The app is available to download on Android (as well as iOS for those that use iPhones or iPads as well). It’s really only useful for those that are actually attending the conference though.
