After introducing its flagship P20 line of smartphones last month in Paris, Huawei is all set to announce it in India. As per new reports, the company has started sending out media invites for a launch event scheduled for April 24 in India. The invite itself doesn’t directly say what devices will be announced at the event, but Huawei’s ‘SEE MOOORE’ tagline gets a prominent mention, hinting at the three rear-placed cameras of the top-end P20 Pro. It is still not confirmed if only the P20 Pro will be brought to India or whether the entire lineup consisting of three devices will be announced, though the latter possibility is believed to be more likely.
Recently, the Chinese OEM started teasing the P20 Android series in the South Asian market via its social media channels. All teasers showcased the triple-camera setup of the P20 Pro, which has been recognized as the best smartphone camera by DxOMark, surpassing the Google Pixel 2 and Galaxy S9. Huawei started teasing its newest flagship for the Indian market on its website soon after its debut in March. Notably, the company has lately been active in India primarily through its sub-brand Honor, with not many smartphones lwith Huawei’s own branding being launched locally in recent months. The P20 lineup will be the first major launch by Huawei India in a long time, marking its full-fledged return to the country.
Huawei embraced the notched design with its new flagship smartphones, with all the three devices sporting one. As their names suggest, the P20 Pro is the most powerful smartphone of the trio; the company included an OLED display panel in the Pro variant, while the other two get an IPS LCD display. Besides getting an extra rear camera, the P20 Pro is also water-resistant with IP67 certification and includes a larger-capacity 4,000mAh battery. The device also comes with 6GB of RAM, as opposed to 4GB found on the other two models. As indicated by the European prices announced at the late March event, the P20 series will cater to the top tier of the market. The Huawei P20 is priced at €649 (Rs. 52,532), the P20 Pro costs €899 (Rs. 72,778), and the P20 Lite goes for €339 (Rs. 27,590) in Europe.
