Several real-life images depicting what are said to be the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus Android smartphones appeared online earlier today, having originally emerged on Chinese social media network Weibo. The three photographs that can be seen above are mostly in line with other recent leaks of the upcoming phablet duo, suggesting the Zhuhai-based handset maker is preparing a pair of devices featuring a metal unibody design and elongated edge-to-edge display panels with a conventional widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 which also lack display notches. The top and bottom bezels of both phones appear to be regular-sized, with the devices sporting circular physical Home buttons which presumably double as fingerprint scanners. A single-lens front-facing camera can also be seen on both the supposed Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus, being centered on the top bezel of the two Android phablets.
The rear plate of the Meizu 15 Plus sports a dual-camera setup consisting of two vertically arranged sensors and an LED flash ring sitting below them, with the lenses apparently protruding from the body of the device by several millimeters. According to previous reports, the two devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 660, one of Qualcomm’s latest mid-range mobile chips boasting eight cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz. The smartphones are expected to be offered in two variants each, one with 64GB of internal flash memory and 4GB of RAM, and another version with 6GB of RAM and twice as much storage space. The main imaging system of both the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus is said to consist of a 20-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel one, with the latter possibly being of the telephoto variety. The front-facing camera will be a 20-megapixel affair, according to a recent TENAA listing, which also suggests the smaller offering will have a 2,940mAh non-removable battery. Neither waterproofing nor wireless charging will be part of the feature set supported by the Meizu 15 lineup, as per the same leaks.
The upcoming series is expected to be announced later this spring and should also include the Meizu 15 Lite, a smaller mid-ranger with a single 12-megapixel camera on its back panel. Meizu is likely to retail the trio in its home country of China and a small number of other Asian markets.
