OnePlus has just confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will feature navigation gestures, though regular on-screen buttons will be available as well. This confirmation came in form of a video clip which was published on Twitter, and the company also included a caption to go with that video. OnePlus wrote “Speed up your experience with gestures. #OnePlus6”, and in the video itself, a swipe up gesture for returning to the home screen has been teased as well.
Having said that, navigation gestures have been introduced for OnePlus 5T beta users a couple of weeks ago, though they still haven’t made their way to the stable OxygenOS build for the device. Having said that, those navigation gestures will be available on the OnePlus 6, as OnePlus just confirmed, and thanks to the beta build of OxygenOS, we know exactly what to expect, unless OnePlus makes some changes when it comes to their functionality. As things stand at the moment, you will be able to swipe from the bottom up in order to return to the home screen, as long as your swipe-up is centered, as swiping from the bottom-left or bottom-right sides of the display will result in the ‘back’ action, same as if you hit the regular ‘back’ navigation key. The third, and final, navigation gesture lets you fire up multitasking, you’ll be required to do the same motion as if you want to return to the home screen, but you will need to pause when you swipe up, without raising your finger. As already mentioned, there’s a chance OnePlus may tweak these navigation gestures for the OnePlus 6, so we’ll have to wait and see.
The OnePlus 6 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845, and it will ship with a display notch, which you’ll be able to hide via software. Having said that, the most expensive variant of the device will include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage, which is also something that OnePlus confirmed already. The device is expected to launch in the near future, and it may even arrive before the end of this month, even though it was originally expected to arrive in June. The front side of the device will probably resemble the OPPO R15 quite a bit, as the bezels will be extremely thin, while a small ‘chin’ will be available below the display. The back side of the device will be quite interesting, as it seems like wood-like back cover will be included, while the phone’s frame will be made out of metal. A rear-facing fingerprint scanner will also be included on the back of the device, while a 3.5mm headphone jack will also be a part of the package.
