Samsung Galaxy J3 Aura, J7 Aura Trademarked Ahead Of Release

Samsung Electronics has filed for more trademarks associated with its budget-friendly Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J7 handsets. More directly, these seem to be applicable to yet another naming convention to be used by at least one carrier for those devices. The carriers are, of course, not specified but the new trademarks mention the Galaxy J3 Aura and Galaxy J7 Aura. This is not necessarily surprising since the company ordinarily provides each carrier in the country, prepaid or otherwise, with its own named version of these devices. The trademarks were filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on April 6 and are still awaiting review as of this writing.

As is usually the case with these types of trademarks, the mark covers the names “Galaxy J3 Aura” and “Galaxy J7 Aura” rather than any font, stylization, size, or color. They’re also unsurprisingly classed as primarily applying to mobile phones or smartphones. None of that should come as too much of a shock since the company has been trademarking quite a few names in that category lately – including several other Galaxy J-series handsets. Moreover, these two smartphones aren’t exactly new discoveries. With that said, these names aren’t by any means set in stone at this point and the company has not announced them in any capacity.

As to the devices themselves, there’s not really much that’s known about what will be included in Samsung’s 2018 Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J7 models. As mentioned above, it’s not unusual for each U.S. carrier to get their own variant – although actual variations between those are usually only slight changes. If Samsung follows its usual conventions, the Galaxy J3 will be the lesser of the two devices and feature a quad-core SoC compared to the Galaxy J7’s octa-core chipset. However, both are expected to be using the Exynos 7570 processor clocked at 1.43GHz, according to recent rumors. The Galaxy J7 will also probably be a larger device and both are rumored to be arriving with 2GB of RAM. In the meantime, the trademark for the Galaxy J3 Aura can be found via the source link below, having been filed under the serial number 87866766, while the Galaxy J7 Aura was filed under the serial number 87866773.
