Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone Mi A1 debuted in India last year providing the Mi fans with a refreshing change from the company’s MIUI skin. The well-received phone is all set to get succeeded very soon as per the leaked information; a fact that is further strengthened by a recent development regarding its availability in the country. The Chinese smartphone maker has reportedly discontinued the A1 in India, with Flipkart also listing the device as out of stock, where it was exclusively sold. According to Xiaomi’s partners in Delhi, the company stopped taking new stocks of the smartphone about two months back, indicating it to be readying its supply chain for a new phone, which could be the rumored Mi A2.
A couple more sources readily confirmed the publication about this development. The Mi A1 tasted immense success in India, thanks to its premium metal build and clutter-free software experience with up to date Android OS under the Android One program. After debuting in China as the Mi 5X running MIUI last July, Xiaomi brought the device to India later in September as the Mi A1 at a price of Rs. 14,999 ($229). The device is expected to be refreshed for 2018 with its initial launch happening in China, possibly in the next few weeks. It could bear the Mi 6X moniker, while Mi A2 name is likely for its Android One variant. The handset made an appearance on TENAA last month that revealed the its design, while earlier leaks had already tipped its core specifications.
Xiaomi today confirmed the launch of Mi 6X in China for April 25 while also providing an official photo of the device, that is in line with the TENAA leak. The smartphone is expected to feature a 5.99-inch IPS display in an 18:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. It will still retain the rear-placed dual-camera setup, which will be repositioned to be aligned vertically this time. It could boast either Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 or Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash memory. The dual-SIM phone will be quite slim at 7.3mm and will house a 2,910mAh battery. For the OS, the phone could be announced with Android 8.0 Oreo-based MIUI in China, while the Android One variant should run a near-stock version of Android Oreo.
