YouTube has just released an official statement regarding the shooting incident over at YouTube Headquarters in San Bruno. In the statement, YouTube expresses shock and grief over the incident, while the company also thanked its employees and first responders. YouTube also revealed some additional details as to how the shooter entered its headquarters. The company says that the shooter, Nasim Aghdam, entered the complex through the parking garage, and went to the courtyard, where the shooting took place.
The shooter never entered the building itself, and YouTube says that the security measures are the reason why. YouTube also thanks San Bruno Police for a quick response, as the police arrived within two minutes after YouTube’s employees called 911. The company also adds that the police did a great job, not only by arriving at the scene really fast, but also when it comes to handling the situation. In its press release, YouTube said that it encouraged its employees to take some time off, to process what happened, and deal with the situation, while the company said that it will increase the security in its headquarters, and offices around the world, following the incident. For those of you who are out of the loop, it is worth saying that the shooter was a 39-year-old woman, who was angry at YouTube for their monetization practices, it seems. The shooter had several YouTube accounts, and she expressed anger towards YouTube on many occasions. Nasim Aghdam shot three people at YouTube headquarters, all three of which were taken to a hospital soon after the incident took place. Nasim Aghdam took its own life soon after shooting YouTube’s employees. Sundar Pichai also made a statement soon after the incident took place, in case you’d like to know more, while a number of tech CEO’s expressed their sadness following the incident, while they also called for stricter gun regulations in the United States.
